So I have been having a bit of writer's block. Or actually, I'm not even sure I would call it that. I keep going back and forth on whether I should regurgitate things that happened in Iceland or stay focused on the present since they are a little less fuzzy.
Although everything's a bit fuzzy right now, as I have had a high fever for the past 4 days.
I think I have the swine flu, but no one believes me. You'll all feel bad when my nose turns into a SNOUT!
Anywho, I have been in the UK for 6 days now. So you guys do the math. UK 6 days, sick for 4 of them. Not cool.
I did get to explore London though and see the changing of the guard and Buckingham palace and where Prince William and Harry live, and the London Eye and Big Ben... and all that fun stuff. Even more than those things, I just love the diversity of that city. It definitely highlights that I am from a SMALL town. The first day I was there I met people from Romania, Ivory Coast, and Ghana. And that was within like 5 hours of just arriving. The Romanian's I met on the street seemed dodgy, but one of them let me use his phone and gave me a free sandwich. I'll happily accept free food, even after I asked his friend what he did for a living and he said "you don't want to know. bad things" and he looked like he did bad things so I stopped inquiring soon after. Ha.
That night a couple of people from the hostel and I went out to a club. Yep, they do stay open later than 2am. But Gramma Mo couldn't hack it, so I left around 3:30 which they said was early. The club was full of 18 year olds, though. I could have easily robbed many a cradle, but decided that I would put that one off for a minute.
I made friends with 2 of the guys that worked at the front desk of the hostel. Their names were Paul and Rene (like my parents!) Weird, hah? One was from Ghana and the other Ivory Coast. Me being super interested in anything African, carried on asking them about a million questions each. And they still wanted my email address, guess I got lucky.
I met up with my friend Andy the first evening I arrived. We studied abroad together in New Zealand and boy was it nice to see his happy shining face again. I can remember the exact moment perfectly when I last saw him. Our boats were going in different directions in Fiji... and then BANG, he's back in my life for another second. Life is weird.
Now I am in Edinburgh, Scotland. I took a bus up here from London yesterday which probably wasn't the best idea. I was sneezing, coughing, sweating, etc. the whole way up here. And I don't think I was the nicest person ever to be around. Oops. Andy's parents had been taking care of me before that. Bringing me meals and medicine in bed, and checking on me every hour or so. Nice people. But then I felt bad for Andy just basically dumping me on them so I decided it would be best if I got out of their hair. I feel a tiny bit better today, but that swine doesn't mess around.
I haven't gotten a chance to see Edinburgh yet, but I keep saying this "hopefully I will feel better tomorrow."
From what I can see, the weather looks and feels a bit like Iceland and everyone knows how much I loooooooooooooove cold weather.................................

Iceland Iceland LAND O ICE.
Hi guys :)
So hereś the deal...
I heard from a ton of people that Iceland is green (and sunny) and Greenland is icy. But I think they have it wrong. Iceland is green, yes but that definitely does not mean itś sunny and warm. No No. On the first day, I had to buy a windbreaker and it saved my life.
I got into my hostel and there was a German lady snoring like mad, who decided she really liked me and wanted to ask me a million questions the next morning, about America and my job and politics and she spoke super broken Englishm and was very hard to understand. Start off with a bang, of course.
So I met up with my couchsurfers who I would be travelling with for the next 10 days at small cafe in the center of Reykyavik. I had trouble finding it, as I cannot pronounce the Icelandic language worth shit. So I had to ask for directions of course, and when I did, they told me what street, but it all sounds kinda like sjhjhdkgakgadkfjgks to me so the guy kindly wrote the word down and told me if i got lost again, to show the person this long schlong word. haha oh so nice.
On the road we went.. the ring road. For 10 days. We bought a tent and camped the first night. There was snow on the mountains not far from where we camped... I think it was about 3 degrees celcius that night. Woo.
Next morning i woke up to find 2 huge bug bites on my nose. My nose swelled up so big, I really looked like rudolph, which is funny because they do have reindeer here. I fit right in.
We camped about 7 out of the 10 nights we were together. And every morning, we found the local swimming pool and kicked it with all of the Icelanders. Swimming pools are the big thing in Iceland. They are all heated by the geothermal activity happening under Iceland. Itś a huge resource for them, so they take advantage of that for sure. They have slides and saunas and steam rooms and many pools in each town. Even the small small ones. And everyone has to shower thoroughly before getting in the pool. They take this very serious, as they even have a monitor, going around, making sure all of the tourists get naked and scrub in all the right spots.
I had to get comfortable being naked with all of these old women, real quick.
Everyone was just scrubbin away... Scrub scrub that vag. HA.
Okay itś dinner time. This Canadian couple cooked for me and Janez. NO PASTA for one night. Hooray. Will write more tomorrow.
LOVE

Land Of Ice
Okay so I am writing from a fjord in eastern Iceland with a foreign keyboard and really slow internet, so bear with me, hm? Ooh, had to search for the question mark on that one.
Things have been great so far. I have been travelling the last 4 days with 3 other people that I met on couchsurfing.com. One is from Belgium but speaks french (and sounds a little like kermit), one is from Canada but also speaks mostly french, and the other from Slovenia. We do our best to speak english with each other but it is sometimes limited.
Someone is waiting for the computer so I am going to keep this first blog short.
I am having a great time and feel blessed to be where I am. So far the people of Iceland have been crazy friendly, all you have to do is say hello.
Will write when I get back into the capital, Reykjavik where there is quicker internet and hopefully no one waiting for me.
LOVE LOVE to everyone.
Oh, and I will have pics up asap too.
Bless (goodbye in Icelandic)
